Tuscan Innovation Award "Amerigo Vespucci" 2024: Spin-offs of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna Honored. The top award went to Celeste srl, second place to Mediate srl, the Youth Award to MyEcho, and a Special Award to Fluid Wire Robotics.

The seventh edition of the "Amerigo Vespucci" Regional Innovation Award of Tuscany 2024 celebrated the excellence of technological and digital innovation in the Tuscan entrepreneurial landscape.

Among this year's winners, four spin-off companies of the Sant'Anna School stand out:

  • CELESTE S.R.L., a company dedicated to the development of advanced plasma-based technologies for scientific, industrial, and aerospace applications, won first prize in the Innovative Start-Up category.
  • In second place was MEDIATE s.r.l., a company founded with the aim of introducing scientific and technological advances in the field of robotics to the market, with the aim of optimizing efficiency and improving the quality of both medical and industrial processes.
  • Awarded the special Youth Prize was MYECHO S.R.L., a company founded by young researchers from the BioRobotics Institute, which operates in the biomedical sector.
  • FLUID WIRE ROBOTICS was awarded the Special Innovation Prize.

The award ceremony took place on December 16th at the Regional Council of Tuscany, with the participation of institutions and representatives from the business world.

The event, promoted by the Regional Council of Tuscany and Confindustria Toscana, was organized by the Digital Innovation Hub Toscana (DIH) with the aim of promoting and supporting research, innovation, and sustainability.


CELESTE S.R.L.: The Future of the Aerospace Sector

CELESTE S.R.L. was awarded the top prize in the Innovative Start-Up category with the MISTRAL project - Miniaturized Innovative Space Thruster for operation with Rarefied Air in Low orbit.

MISTRAL is an innovative CubeSat-scale electric thruster capable of using the residual atmosphere as a propellant to operate in very low orbits (<300 km). This technology, known as "air-breathing," could revolutionize the aerospace sector, making it possible to build low-cost artificial satellites for scientific and commercial missions.

Thanks to this cutting-edge solution, CELESTE S.R.L. is positioned among the most promising companies in the space industry, contributing to the advancement of research and technological innovation in the sector.


MEDIATE s.r.l.: Development of a flexible technology for workplace safety

The spin-off company MEDIATE s.r.l. ranked second. Founded with the aim of marketing advanced scientific and technological solutions in the field of robotics, its mission is to improve the efficiency and quality of processes, both in the medical and industrial sectors, through the introduction of innovative robotics.

Its CASSIOPEA project aims to develop an innovative and adaptable technology to address the problem of workplace accidents caused by the tampering of safety devices on machinery or plants. This technology will be based on the integration of various components, such as smart sensors, wearable devices, and solutions for human-machine collaboration.


MYECHO S.R.L.: Young Innovation Looking to the Future

The Special Youth Prize was awarded to MYECHO S.R.L. for the MyEcho project, recognized for its strong innovative impact and potential for transformation in the technological field.

MYECHO represents a concrete example of how young companies can make a significant contribution to technological progress, through innovative solutions capable of responding to the challenges of the future.


FLUID WIRE ROBOTICS wins the Digital Innovation Hub Toscana Special Prize

For the 2024 edition of the Digital Innovation Hub Toscana, the President of the Promoting Committee and Coordinator of the DIH Toscana, Silvia Ramondetta, introduced the Special Prizes, awarded by the Judging Commission.

Among the award-winning companies, FLUID WIRE ROBOTICS S.R.L. stands out, having received the prestigious recognition for its contribution to innovation.
